New website goes live

Durango, CO — October 14, 2010 — New look, platform easier for visitors and administrators.

Museum Delivers New Website "In Beta" August 2010

In anticipation of its opening at the Powerhouse later this year, the Durango Discovery Museum has "gone live" with a new website design at www.durangodiscovery.org. "It's not perfect, but oh the potential," said someone close to the project who's always wanted to be an anonymous source.

The new website was built on a powerful content management system and developed by a stalwart museum volunteer. He worked closely with the museum's designer, Sarah Douglas of gaiacreative, and the staff of the museum to develop a refreshed look and feel that would address the new requirements of an open, working museum.

Now, updates and late-breaking news will be easier and quicker to post, and new site functionality, such as educator resource, visitor "labs", and a museum store will be easier to integrate. The site allows many levels of access, so staff, board, museum members and visitors also will have the ability to update and contribute to the site's development.

Visitors are invited to enjoy the new site and to offer suggestions via a "feedback" link at the top of each page on the site.
