Creating the Durango Discovery Museum

There is much to do before our vision is realized. The interior of the powerhouse needs basic utilities and heat. Public facilities, such as a restrooms and a reception area, must be added. The museum will need administrative offices and a workshop in which to create exhibits. The plaza will need landscaping and parking must be provided.

The Board of the Durango Discovery Museum has decided to pursue a first stage in which we do what is necessary to open the museum. We expect that this will mostly involve making the museum useable by the public. We have about 4000 sq. ft. of useable exhibit space in the powerhouse. We would like to add some additional exhibit space, but that will depend on the cost of the other work and our capacity to raise funds.
