Nikola Tesla (1856-1943)
inventor, engineer, visionary
Rumor has it that the great inventor and developer of AC electricity, Nikola Tesla, visited Durango and the experimental and historic power plant now housing the Durango Discovery Museum. Did he make regular consulting visits leading up to the plant opening in 1893? Did he return to drown his tears in the local saloons years later when Edison and others conspired to defame him and vilify his life's work?
Our investigations continue. Please let us know what you discover. And when you visit, don’t be alarmed if you hear a strong Southeastern European accent echoing from behind the boilers.
